Study Area

NAS Corpus Christi is located along the southeast coast of Texas, within the city limits of Corpus Christi in Nueces County. Corpus Christi is located approximately 140 miles southeast of the City of San Antonio and 170 miles north of the United States / Mexico border. NAS Corpus Christi is a 2,340-acre military base with additional aviation and special use easements. NAS Corpus Christi is home to the Chief of Naval Air Training, Training Air Wing Four, the Corpus Christi Army Depot, and several other tenants. NAS Corpus Christi has supported pilot training and operations at its main airfield Truax Field as well as its two landing fields since 1941.

The planning area for this JLUS encompasses NAS Corpus Christi's main base, including the main airfield Truax Field, its two auxiliary landing fields Cabaniss and Waldron, the Corpus Christi International Airport, and the land areas extending approximately five nautical miles from the airfields.
